Which Silencer is right for you?
We understand that you can buy a silencer from just about anywhere. We specialize in tuning your AR to run extremely well with a silencer. We can build an AR to run well under suppressed and unsuppressed use, or tune it as a dedicated silencer host.
Because of the vast number of silencers available and numerous differences between each, we recommend reaching out to us before you buy so we can help you choose the one that is right for your intended application.
There are several factors listed below you will want to consider. Prioritize which ones are most important to you and make a decision based on your list.
- Sound Suppression (visit www.pewscience.com for objective sound testing!)
- Signature reduction (flash, IR, etc.)
- Weight
- Size
- Mounting options
- Back Pressure
- Caliber (dedicated to a single gun or multi use?)
- Price

Should I buy my silencer under a trust or as an individual?
That’s a great question and it depends a lot on your personal situation. In short, if you want to allow other people like friends and family to use your NFA items, you can do so by adding them to your trust.
If you purchase as an individual, only you can take possession of the Silencer or other NFA item so make sure you take that into consideration. If you decide you want to add the silencer to the trust later, you will need to pay another $200 tax stamp to do so.
There are several types of trusts available. The most commonly used one is the Single Shot trust from SilencerShop due to its simplicity and low cost. They are simple to set up and are simply the fastest way to get a silencer under a trust.
Downsides to the Single Shot trust are that you must buy one for each serial number you register and it can only be used for silencers. You cant add other NFA items to it.
If your venture in the NFA world will only be a couple silencers, the SilencerShop Single Shot trust is likely going to be the best option. If you think you may buy multiple silencers, would like to keep them all under the same trust, or want to add items like Short Barrel Rifles (SBRs) you may want to consider a traditional gun trust instead. They cost a little more to set up but when you use an outfit like Gun Trust Depot to set it up for you the turnaround can be as little as one business day. They also have options where an actual attorney reviews your trust, unlike boilerplate options such as the Single Shot trust.
